Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I hope you enjoy my stories and stay for the recommendations!

Kalo's Coffee Co.

It's like "Carlos," but without the "r," and it means good, or welfare, which is what they bring to the community.

It's fresh, it's chic and it's got a lot of natural lighting, which I'm a sucker for. However, I haven't quite fallen in love yet, though I want to ... trust me I do.

Here's what you can look forward to:

  • Their decor is on point
  • They have different seating options: regular tables, HIGH TABLES, couches, bar seating, and picnic tables outside
  • The women's restroom is ridiculously cute. Seriously, it's not every day you run into a brag-worthy public restroom
  • The ingredients are fresh and wholesome, so you're free of guilt
  • And there's ample natural lighting, which makes it a great place to work in

Here's why I'm not in love yet:

Seeing as it's still new, you'll have to be patient with service and final products. The first time I stopped by, we waited a long time to get our drinks, and my friends ended up not liking their coffee -- probably because the staff was still training. Totally understandable.

Also due to its newness,  the owners are using the area as a workspace during the afternoon. Working to finalize a few business details. On one hand, you get to meet them and they're super awesome people. Very friendly and helpful. But on the other, it can feel like you're in the middle of a brainstorming meeting.

Other things to note:

Kalo's + Nourish is all about healthy eating, so don't expect to find regular sugar here. You shouldn't be consuming it anyway, but if you're into diabetes and stuff then sorry but you'll have to try something new. (ok. i'm dramatic.sue me.)

I should also mention that, like many juice bars, it's a bit pricey. I get it, healthy ingredients are expensive and have a short life span, meaning they're constantly having to buy more, but I personally can't afford to go to these places as often as I'd like. womp womp woooomp

As far as the ambiance though, it's bright and inspirational. It's the kind of place you'll want to take friends to after a midday run at Memorial Park.

Kalo's is also great for getting sh*t done. The tables are wide, meaning you can spread out all of your crayons ...  Wait. Am I the only adult that walks around with crayons in their backpack? Fine. You can bring your adulty laptops and work on your adulty emails and such. Either way, get awesome things done there.

I do plan on returning now and then. Who knows, maybe I'll end up loving it. Take a look at the pics below and see for yourself how chic this place is:
